After months of permitting delays, Richmond’s newest raw vegetarian café has served its first customers. Located in Steveston, Rawk the Planet (240-12240 2nd Avenue) had its soft opening earlier this week.

A March 20 post on Rawk the Planet’s Facebook page states:

The Rawks grand opening in about a month. Limited menu at the moment….a few Juices a few smoothie selections and a few mmm-munchies. Items being added daily. Oh yes…we are open ffffor business as of the 18th. Go easy on us…were all new and getting the hang of everythiing. We appreciate your patience…some items we carry are…kefir water..green ginger tea…salsa and chips..chick peace salad..2nutish pate and onion crackers and much more. Adding more to the menu every day. Oh and desserts are selling out fast. More to come tomorrow. Love from all of us at the Rawk..xx

In a September interview, Rawk the Planet owner Nessa Campbell told me that the restaurant’s menu will be primarily vegan, as well as free of wheat and soy. Some of the desserts will contain raw organic honey, which will also be available as a sweetener for tea.
