Vegan bake sale alert!

The LOVE Club at Simon Fraser University plans to hold a bake sale on Monday (January 21). It’ll start at 10:30 a.m. in the mezzanine of the Surrey campus at Central City. All proceeds will go to the Hearts on Noses mini-pig sanctuary.

With its capital letters standing for Living Opposed to Violence and Exploitation, the LOVE Club is a student group that promotes a vegetarian lifestyle and social justice.

Founded in 2002 by Janice Gillett, Hearts on Noses is a Mission-based charity that rescues and cares for abandoned, injured, and abused pigs. Hearts on Noses’ Facebook profile says the sanctuary houses more than 40 pigs, as well as other animals. In 2011, Hearts on Noses reported $55,323 in total revenue and $56,316 in total expenses.
