The Victoria Vegan Festival looks set to become an annual event. Organizers recently confirmed the second edition of the free fest will take place on Canada Day (July 1) in 2013.

Last July, the inaugural fest took over Market Square (560 Johnson Street) on Canada Day as well. Market Square, which is also the planned site for next year’s event, has been home since August to Sarah’s Place, the vegan curio shop of fest organizer and cookbook author Sarah Kramer (How It All Vegan!).

The first edition of the fest featured speakers such as cookbook authors Vesanto Melina (Cooking Vegetarian) and Bryanna Clark Grogan (World Vegan Feast). Vendors included Vshoen, Victoria’s first vegan shoe store, and Vancouver’s Fairy Cakes and Zimt Artisan Chocolates.
